Natural Gas Aggregation Program Suspended

1/17/2025 Update on the Natural Gas Aggregation Program

Upon recommendation from our energy consultant, Aspen Energy Corp., The Village of Granville and Granville Township have made the decision to temporarily suspend our Natural Gas Aggregation Program until Aspen gets a better understanding of how rates are shaping up in 2025. We are doing this in the best interests of our residents as the anticipated renewal rate is well above the current aggregated rate.

There is a large pipeline expansion project on the TCO Columbia Gas of Ohio (COH) Transmission system that is affecting natural gas aggregation renewal rates, but the variable rate Columbia Gas Standard Choice Offer (SCO) remains the same (New York Mercantile Exchange + $.166 per ccf), which is currently $.5174 per ccf through January 2025. This rate is below the current aggregated rate of $.5315 per ccf, but will likely rise in February.

Current program participants will be receiving a letter from Columbia Gas of Ohio soon notifying them that their account will be reverting to the utility’s SCO. On February 4th, an auction will take place that will set the rates for the SCO adder from April 2025 – March 2026, so we will evaluate whether it is preferable to resume the gas aggregation program at that time. If you have additional questions, please contact the Village of Granville at 740-587-0707 or Granville Township at 740-587-3885. For technical or billing inquiries, please contact Aspen Energy Corp., at 614-884-5300 x234 or x209.
